NBA Player Props for Monday the 8th

Nick Richards

Best NBA Player Props 1/8

The year has started pretty generous to us with last week’s prop bets. We went 3-1 with the only loss being Kyle Kuzma 20+ points. He was at 16 points in 22 minutes, but the Washington Wizards couldn’t help themselves and got destroyed in the third quarter, which led to the starters not playing the entire fourth quarter. However, 3-1 is not a bad start to 2024.

Today’s slate is a little shorter than usual due to the college football national championship game being tonight. That does not mean we have nothing to bet on. A short slate, or a big slate, we are still here to make some money.

Tyrese Haliburton Under 23.5 Points (-104)

The Indiana Pacers and Boston Celtics face off for the second time in three days. Their last matchup was not the best showing for one of the league’s emerging stars, Tyrese Haliburton. This was a different outcome than the one we saw in the In-Season Tournament when Haliburton recorded a triple-double and a win.

However, on Saturday, Haliburton struggled immensely. He shot 5-17, scoring only 17 points and dishing out only 7 assists. The Celtics have the best collection of defenders for someone like Haliburton. Derrick White and Jrue Holiday did an amazing job on Saturday of stopping him. They practically shadowed him all around the court and refused to let him get space for handoffs, which would lead to switches or open threes for Haliburton himself.

Haliburton is an amazing young star in this league. The issue is that this matchup is hard for him and the Pacers.

Nick Richards Over 9.5 Rebounds (-125)

The Charlotte Hornets are free-falling. They are 1-9 in their last 10 with no aspirations for the playoffs. LaMelo Ball is still out and Mark Williams is now out with a back injury and has no timetable to return. They have some talent on the roster, one being Nick Richards.

Richards was a steady backup last season for the Hornets and is replicating that same success from last year to this year. Now he is the starting center and has been solid thus far.

This is another matchup between two teams that just played a few days ago. In the last matchup between the Charlotte Hornets and Chicago Bulls, Richards snagged 12 rebounds in 27 minutes.

The line might rise over the next few games if he keeps consistently grabbing 10+ rebounds. The line might be too low for a guy who can get the rebounds and has no other solid centers on the roster. Take this prop and feel good about it.

Chet Holmgren 8+ Rebounds (-195)

The OKC Thunder are leaping this season. Some expected a step up, but nothing like this. They are 23-11 and the third seed in the Western Conference as of today. One of the biggest contributors has been Chet Holmgren, who they drafted last year with the second pick, but couldn’t play due to a broken foot.

He has been amazing this year. However, the one thing that tends to lack in his game is the rebounding. He is averaging seven rebounds a game just due to being seven feet tall. Chet is very slender and is hunting blocks at all times. That tends to diminish is ability to rebound. Their opponent tonight is very capable of allowing rebounds.

The Washington Wizards allow the most rebounds per game by almost four rebounds compared to the second to last spot. They are putrid all-around, but rebounding is one of the worst. They have no big men outside of Daniel Gafford, which should give Chet the perfect chance of garnering 8+ rebounds.
