Happy St. Patrick’s day everybody! We’re here to hopefully have some of the luck rub off on us this evening with a solid NBA slate on offer. After Wednesday night’s 2-2 effort, let down by some abysmal shooting from Tatum & LaVine, way below their season averages; we were definitely unlucky not to have a clean sweep.

Al Horford over 9.5 points scored (-115)

Tonight’s matchup for the Boston Celtics (48-22) is set up nicely against a struggling Portland Trailblazers (31-38) team that has lost 4 straight games. With Jayson Tatum questionable, and after his performance on Wednesday, we’re pivoting to the big man, Al Horford. The Blazers have struggled in recent games against point-scoring centers like Joel Embiid (39) & Julius Randle (24), and when these teams met last week, Horford himself scored 17. In his previous 10 games, Horford is also averaging 12.3 points, slightly above his season average of 9.8. Portland are not helping themselves either of late; they rank 29th in points scored against (123.3) in their last 3 games. The Celtics open up as -4.5 favorites, so we’re anticipating a close enough game to give Horford plenty of minutes and the opportunity to hit double-digits.

Alperen Sengün over 8.5 rebounds (-107)

The Houston Rockets (17-52) host the New Orleans Pelicans (33-36) in one of the less so anticipated matchups in the Western Conference. Surprisingly the Rockets have won back-to-back games, and are attempting to go for 3 straight for the first time this season, against a Pelicans side with only 3 wins in their last 11. Alperen Sengün has been the star man for Houston this year and was previously a regular for our props before having a quiet start to 2023. In his last 10 games however, he’s averaged 8.7 rebounds per game, and if you remove the 2 games against Denver & Chicago (2 top 6 rebound defenses), he’s actually averaging 10 a game. The Pelicans rank 25th in defensive rebounds allowed per game (35.7) and are shooting just 44.9% in their last 3 (24th), whilst the Rockets are 10th in total rebounds per game (53.7). So expect Sengün to be very busy this evening, our projection tool has him at 9.16 rebounds.

Steph Curry over 29.5 points scored (-105)

Golden State (36-34) travels to Atlanta to face the Hawks (34-35) in what could be a high-scoring affair this evening. Steph Curry’s return has been vital for the Warriors this month, averaging 34.1 points per game in March. The Hawks currently rank dead last in points against per game over the last 3 (125.7) and the Warriors are first in points scored per game (124.7). What should keep this game close is the Warriors also rank 27th in points against (120.7) and the Hawks are 8th in points scored (118). Another point of interest is Steph hasn’t faced the Hawks this season due to injury, but in his last game against them in November 2021, he scored 50 points! Expect another close matchup between the 2 and to see Curry play a healthy amount of minutes to breeze past the over. He’s projected tonight at 29.68 points.

Pat Beverley over 4.5 rebounds (-145)

We couldn’t round off today of all days without a Patrick! The Chicago Bulls (31-37) welcome the Minnesota Timberwolves (35-35) to check out the green Chicago River, as the Timberwolves are chasing that final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Patrick Beverley was acquired by the Bulls back in February and has been a regular starter for them since. Since signing for them, he’s averaged 6.9 rebounds per game. In the last 3 games, the Timberwolves rank 28th in total rebounds allowed per game (57.7), and with the Bulls slightly below their season shooting average (48.9%) at just 47.1%, expect the recent self-proclaimed best offensive rebounding point guard in the NBA to be very active this evening.
