MLB Player Props 6/24
Last Monday was a positive day of betting with two of the three props turning green. However, Yusei Kikuchi was just flat-out awful in his start versus the Boston Red Sox. It is time for Yusei Kikuchi and the Toronto Blue Jays to enter the banned list for the foreseeable future. Sometimes you have to be willing to ban a player or team to make the betting process easier.
This Monday we look to rebound and go for the perfect 3-0 record. There are tons of games to choose from, as we have 12 games on the slate today, which is just a beautiful sight to see. Let’s take a look at the best props for the night.
Aaron Nola Under 5.5 Hits Allowed (-155)
In his last two starts, Aaron Nola has gotten rocked. Prior to those two starts, Nola was commanding a 2.77 ERA, which has now ballooned to a staggering 3.54 ERA. The trip over to London caused some delays for some of the Phillies’ pitchers in terms of their usual routines and they may have caused an issue specifically to Nola.
We are now removed from that theory and everything should be back to normal, which is why Nola bounces back against a Detroit Tigers team that has been struggling at the plate all season long. The Tigers are in the bottom 10 in of MLB in both batting average and OPS. They are not in the most hitter-friendly ballpark and that shows for most of their players. It also doesn’t help that the ballpark today is going to have winds blowing in.
I think Nola regroups after two awful starts and shoves today in Detroit. 5.5 hits might be too big of a line and I want to take advantage of that.
Cole Ragans Under 1.5 Earned Runs Allowed (+115)
This is going to be an insane line to sweat, but I am willing to risk it. Cole Ragans is one of the best young pitchers in baseball. The Royals snagged him from the Texas Rangers in a deal for Aroldis Chapman around the deadline. The move helped the Rangers win a World Series, but they might be regretting it just a little bit with how good Ragans has become.
Ragans has a 3.13 ERA and has already amassed over 100 strikeouts for the season. Tonight he faces off against the lowly Miami Marlins who are just putrid against left-handed pitchers. They are the worst team in the MLB in SLG and OPS versus lefties, while also being in the bottom five in strikeouts and AVG. They are team constantly on the downward spiral and Ragans can take advantage of that notion.
Ragans has allowed his fair share of earned runs, but in his 16 starts this season, he has hit this under in half of them. He is easily capable of amazing starts and today could be one of them. I think Ragans pitches a gem and showcases his Cy Young talent against a squad that can’t seem to touch lefties on the mound.
Matt Waldron Under 18.5 Outs Recorded (-175)
The Matt Waldron experience has been fun to watch. He throws a knuckleball, which is like seeing a dinosaur in person nowadays. The way he pitches does not look like it should be working, but it has recently. In four starts this month, he has 1.71 ERA and OBA of .146. He has been lethal this month, while going super deep into games as well. However, I think this is the right time to fade his outs recorded.
For the entirety of the season thus far, Waldron has had some struggles at home. His home ERA is 4.36, while his road ERA is standing at 2.86. His last two starts saw him eclipse this over, but they were both road starts. The Washington Nationals are a solid hitting squad that won’t strikeout and work some at-bats.
Waldron can pitch a good game by all means, which is why I do not want to touch his earned runs or hits allowed props. I think the under outs recorded is the perfect prop to fade him on after two spectacular starts. The oddsmakers might be very high on him after those recent performances, which is why I think you take the under tonight.
