Best NBA Player Props 1/22
We are back this week after a disappointing 2-2 finish on last week’s props. Clint Capela legitimately forgot how to rebound. The Milwaukee Bucks can’t function without Giannis, which led to Malik Beasley playing awful. The quest for a perfect score continues.
Tonight’s slate is solid with eight games on. The season is picking up with the All-Star weekend slowly approaching. Before you know it, we will have the playoffs to bet on. However, let’s get started with the props for today.
Jaden Ivey Over 5.5 Assists (-136)
The Milwaukee Bucks and Detroit Pistons are squaring off for the second time in three days. These two division foes are familiar with one another. The Pistons are still in the midst of a putrid season that was highlighted by the worst losing streak in NBA history. Nonetheless, they still have young talent on this roster that is showing some potential.
One of those players is Jaden Ivey, who at the beginning of the season couldn’t scratch the rotation, but has now made his way to the starting lineup. Injuries to Cade Cunningham and Monte Morris have also led to a more prominent role for the second-year guard out of Purdue.
His assists prop tonight might be the juiciest prop to attack for this game. In his last six games, Ivey has cleared this number in five of those games; one being against the Bucks a few days ago. He and Killian Hayes tend to switch up the ball-handling duties, but with the Bucks having a lousy defense, I believe that Ivey can crack six assists tonight.
Keegan Murray Over 17.5 Points (-128)
The Sacramento Kings are in a little bit of a rough patch right now. They have lost four straight games and are looking like a play-in team. The Kings are still a good team but tend to be up and down this season, as the expectations grew from last season’s Cinderella story.
However, they still have talent on the roster, especially in Keegan Murray, who is beginning to take strides in his game. The second-year forward out of Iowa is starting to find consistency in his role, which is corresponding with production on the court. For January thus far, Murray is averaging 18.5 points per game, which is an uptick from his regular season average.
The 17.5 can still be scary for the third, or maybe even fourth option for a team. The matchup and factors play a big role in this prop. The Atlanta Hawks allow the second most points per game to power forwards. Furthermore, Murray averages 19 points per game at home, while 12 on the road.
All signs point to a great Keegan Murray game.
De’Aaron Fox Over 6.5 Assists (+122)
Another Kings player makes the list of best props for today. De’Aaron Fox is undoubtedly an All-Star this year. He is amazing with his quickness and shiftiness to get to the rim. He is also becoming an excellent shooter, as he is shooting a career-high 39.7% from three.
However, I am not here to talk about the scoring prowess of Fox. I instead want to touch on his assists prop tonight. His assists numbers are down for the season, but that is due to Domantas Sabonis taking over as the Nikola Jokic for this offense. That doesn’t mean that Fox can’t put up 6-7 assists in a night.
He was able to put up eight assists against this same Hawks team in their last outing. The Atlanta Hawks are allowing the third most assists per game to point guards this season. The Hawks might have to go all out to stop Fox from scoring tonight, which can lead to him playing the facilitator role.
These two teams are going to want to run all night along with little defense being played. The matchup is very enticing for a multitude of Kings players with Keegan Murray and Fox being my picks for tonight’s game.
