MLB Player Pros for Wednesday the 9th

Fernando Tatis Jr

MLB Player Props 10/9

Monday did not offer the same success as last week. A 1-2 record on Monday and Tuesday was rough to watch. Cole Ragans could not generate a clean inning, which led to an early pulling, while Sean Manaea looked like Randy Johnson on the bump last night. Luckily, Walker Buehler allowed 6 earned runs last night in an abysmal performance. Tonight we look to rebound and make sure we end the season strong. Here are the three best props for tonight’s playoff matchups.

Ranger Suarez 4+ Hits Allowed (-175)

The Philadelphia Phillies are on the ropes down 2-1 in the series against their bitter rivals, the New York Mets. The bats are cold and the bullpen is shaky. This Mets team is resilient and resembles the Phillies from two years ago. They get to face Ranger Suarez tonight, which might be the nail in the coffin for the Phillies.

The Mets have done well for the entire season against left-handed pitchers, but in the playoffs, it has reached a new level. In 40 at-bats against lefties this postseason, they are batting .400 with an OPS of 1.032. Their bats are on fire, while Ranger comes into this game as cold as ice.

Ranger had an excellent first half of the season that led to an All-Star nod, but the second half was not kind to him one bit. He finished the second half of the season with an ERA  of 5.65 and a WHIP of 1.69. Ranger has had postseason success over the past two seasons, as he has a 1.62 ERA and a WHIP of 0.90 in 9 playoff games. However, the Phillies seem lost right now and tonight might be the end of this team. Nothing seems to be going their way on both sides. This might be a team that has run its course and looking for the exit signs. I see the Mets taking him out early and generating 4 hits with ease.

Manny Machado Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-135)

The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres have been a fiery bout between two rivals. One of the centerpieces in this rivalry has been Manny Machado, who once wore that Dodgers jersey several years ago. Now he is with the Padres and has inherited the beef between the two squads.

Machado is playing great baseball despite the issues he has had with the Dodgers. In his 5 postseason games thus far, Machado has hit this over in 4 of them. He gets to face a Dodgers team that is depleted with pitchers right now. They lost a few guys for the season before the playoffs began and now have used all of their starters with no success.

Last night was a prime example of their lack of pitching depth when they pushed Walker Buehler to go 5 innings when he clearly did not have any juice. Dave Roberts has already stated that tonight is going to be a bullpen game for the Dodgers, which is a perfect scenario for the Padres. Look for Machado to keep the party going for the Padres, as well as his teammate who is playing the best baseball of his career at the perfect time.

Fernando Tatis Jr. Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-160)

Is there any hitter playing better than Fernando Tatis Jr. at the moment? He is currently batting .556 with an OPS of 1.970 while adding 4 home runs and 7 RBIs. He is a machine right now at the plate and the Dodgers have no answer for him. It is at the point where they are better off walking him each time comes up in the order.

This could be the start of a postseason hero who can lead his team when the moment presents itself. Tatis was excellent in their 2020 run to the NLCS, but not at the level of this current postseason. The Dodgers are running thin with arms and that is due to Tatis torturing every pitcher the Dodgers put out there. This bullpen game might become a disaster with how hot his bat is.

Machado and Tatis are a dynamic duo that can easily lead this team to the World Series. Knocking off their division rivals is the first step in the goal. They can do it tonight and I think they will be hitting this over and staying for the foreseeable future.
