MLB Player Props
After a woeful record last week, Monday was the beginning of what could be a stellar record. We swept the slate on Monday and are now looking to replicate that. Monday was an easy win, which you should never take for granted in the betting world. Now let’s see if I can find the correct three props again for Wednesday. After looking through the numbers and the board, here are the best three props of the day.
Zack Wheeler 7+ Strikeouts (-175)
The Philadelphia Phillies at the start of the second half of the season went through a bad stretch of baseball. That led me to avoid any of their props until I saw some improvement and now I can fully say that the Phillies are back. They are 8-2 in their last 10 and own the best record in MLB. The player I want to ride with is Zack Wheeler, especially with him at home. The veteran pitcher is having a Cy Young-caliber year and is a strong pitcher to tail.
The prop I chose to go with was Wheeler’s strikeouts at 7+. This is a line that he has hit in 5 of his last 7 starts. Furthermore, he is facing a Tampa Bay Rays team that is the 6th-worst team in K% and 4th-worst in AVG. This team also struggles against right-handed pitchers. Wheeler has a great matchup and gets to pitch in his home ballpark where he has 106 strikeouts compared to on the road where he has 84 strikeouts.
Wheeler is a workhorse for the Phillies and can showcase that tonight in a very favorable matchup. I don’t mind taking the over, but I want to play it safe and roll with the 7+. Expect a great night on the mound for the potential Cy Young winner.
Michael King 7+ Strikeouts (-175)
The San Diego Padres traded away Juan Soto in the off-season and one of the players they received in return was Michael King. Nobody truly talks about King, but he is having a very underrated season. He is currently in the top 10 in both ERA and strikeouts. Also, over the past four months, King has not had an ERA worse than 2.73. Tonight I am rolling with the strikeouts for one reason and that reason is that he gets to face the Seattle Mariners.
The Mariners still own the top spot in the highest K%. They are also the worst-hitting team in their home ballpark by a wide margin. The Mariners had the AL West lead for a good portion of the season, but have fallen off a cliff to the point where they are most likely missing the playoffs. A lot of that is due to their inept hitting.
King has played this Mariners squad earlier in the season and finished with 9 strikeouts. I love King’s strikeouts tonight, but once again want to play it safe with the 7+. My favorite thing is to fade the Mariners and this is another perfect matchup to do so.
Jordan Wicks Over 4.5 Hits Allowed (-170)
Jordan Wicks is a solid, young pitcher for the Chicago Cubs. However, I want to fade him tonight in a difficult matchup. He has to face the Los Angeles Dodgers in LA. The Dodgers are in the top 10 in AVG and OPS at home, but there are even more splits to speak to their chances of getting to Wicks tonight.
The Dodgers are dominant against left-handed pitchers. They are in the top three in AVG, OPS, and hits versus lefties. The Dodgers are also in the top 10 in BABIP and wOBA against lefties. They are a top-tier team in hitting regardless of the type of pitcher, but this is just a great reasoning for why Wicks is in trouble.
The Dodgers are on fire right now at the plate. In the last 15 days, the Dodgers are in the top 5 in hits, AVG, and OPS. Wicks played this Dodgers team earlier in the year, and despite pitching at home, he allowed 6 hits. The line being at 4.5 hits allowed is somewhat head-scratching and makes me think something is up. However, I love this line too much to pass up. Take the Dodgers to hit up Wicks and get this over unless the Cubs pull him very early.
