Best NBA Player Props 1/17
After a short three-game slate last night, we are thankful for a robust 10-game slate today. Last week did not treat us so well, as we went 1-2 on the props. Tyrese Haliburton was the only prop that was a success but was due to an unfortunate injury. Nick Richards and Chet Holmgren was us getting too cute for the props.
Tonight is the night we bounce back from the 1-2 record and try to go perfect.
Clint Capela Over 9.5 Rebounds (-125)
One of the best rebounders over the last few seasons has been Clint Capela. The 29-year-old veteran has averaged 10+ rebounds per game for seven straight seasons now. Capela is a rebounding machine, despite only averaging 26 minutes a game, and splitting time with Onyeka Okongwu.
The matchup tonight for Capela is perfect. The Atlanta Hawks are squaring off against the Orlando Magic, who are in the bottom five in rebounds allowed per game. Furthermore, Capela has had success against this Magic team already. In their two previous matchups, he snagged 12 and 11 rebounds, respectively.
The lack of minutes for Capela each game will always be concerning. However, his rebounding skills are top notch and the matchup has already played in his favor in two other games this season. I think 10 rebounds is an easy get for Capela tonight.
Anthony Davis Over 27.5 Points (-113)
Anthony Davis has been having a spectacular season, but there are still games where he is just inconsistent. There are games where he won’t shoot, or games where he can’t make a shot on 20+ attempts. Despite the potential inconsistency, I think AD has a huge game tonight.
The Dallas Mavericks don’t truly have anyone who can guard someone like Davis. Dereck Lively and Dwight Powell are the only centers they play on this roster. Davis should feast on those guys tonight.
In their last matchup, Davis had 37 points, but the game before that one, Davis only scored 10 points on 10 shots. This is more of a risk than you would think, but I rather go all in on an All-Star-level talent than not.
Malik Beasley Over 2.5 Threes (-128)
Do you know who leads the league in three-point percentage? It is Malik Beasley, who is of course the person everyone would expect. He is shooting 48% from three so far this year while shooting six threes a game. The volume is there for a role player like Beasley.
The matchup tonight might not be favorable when you think about it. The Cleveland Cavaliers are a solid defensive team, especially against the three. However, in their last meeting, Beasley knocked down five threes. The key might be to stop the stars of the Bucks and leave Beasley open.
He has become one of the best shooters this year, which he has voiced. The confidence is there and the looks might be there as well. I can be reaching on this pick, but I have a lot of faith in this Beasley prop tonight.
Jeremy Sochan Under 11.5 Points (-106)
12 points is not a lot for an NBA player prop bet. To bet the under is a little bit scary, but sometimes you have to believe in the numbers. Jeremy Sochan is averaging 12 points a game in his last 10 games, but it is very misleading.
His last four games have been against bad defenses. However, he played the Boston Celtics at the end of last month and had an abysmal game. He had nine points on 4-11 shooting.
Sochan is not a good scorer and more of an energy type of player. The Celtics are the best defensive team in the league, while allowing the least amount of points to power forwards. Tonight should be a rough night for Sochan. Take the under even with the risk factor.
