NFL Week 1 Betting Advice Guide (2021)
The 2021 NFL Season gets underway this week and there are a few great matchups on the slate for this weekend. Here at pickscalculator.com we use BAKER to make our picks. BAKER is a machine learning algorithm that we use to generate the NFL picks & predictions each week.
We are very confident in our picks and we think that the underlying numbers bear that out. There are four games that we are highly confident in with both the result and the over/under. Below, we will give you our picks for some of the biggest games this weekend!
Los Angeles Chargers vs. Washington Football Team
The Chargers go on the road to open up the season and they come into the game with Washington as a pretty even matchup. BAKER has the Chargers covering the spread and this game hitting the over, which is set at 45 points.
You can see why we like the Chargers here with Justin Herbert at the helm. With Austin Ekeler in the backfield and Keenan Allen catching passes the Chargers have a ton of weapons. These weapons are better than Washington’s in almost every way.
These two teams averaged 44.9 points a game last season combined and they just were not great offensively. With Herbert coming into his second season and Ryan Fitzpatrick leading Washington, we look for these two teams to put up a ton of points.
- Chargers Cover the Spread
- Bet the Over
Cleveland Browns vs. Kansas City Chiefs
The Browns and the Chiefs open the season in what very well could be a preview of the AFC Championship later this season. BAKER likes Cleveland to cover the 6.5 point spread here as we predict a slight win for Kansas City.
Cleveland made some moves this offseason to really bolster their offense and another year into the Kevin Stefanski system the Browns should be clicking on all cylinders. The Chiefs offensive line is still struggling so we think that the Browns should be able to get quite a bit of pressure on the football.
The Browns should come out pumped up for this one and give the Chiefs a good fight.
- Browns +6
Minnesota Vikings vs. Cincinnati Bengals
The Vikings and the Bengals open their campaigns on Sunday afternoon as they face off in a highly touted game for both teams. BAKER tells us that Minnesota will cover the spread and that the over will be hit.
Minnesota covered the spread in six of their games last season and will be able to get a good start on reaching that number again this year. The Vikings have one of the best running backs in the NFL with Dalvin Cook and the Bengals get Joe Burrow back after an ACL injury last season.
The Vikings defense should be able to push them to a win. The over is set at 47 points and with the firepower that the Vikings have we expect them to hit it. Think of a 35-17 type of game for this matchup.
- Vikings Cover the Spread
- Bet the Over
Tennessee Titans vs. Arizona Cardinals
Two of the best wideouts in the NFL will be matching up on Sunday as the Titans and Julio Jones meet the Cardinals and Deandre Hopkins. BAKER has the Cardinals winning outright and hitting the under.
This is going to be a very compelling matchup with two teams who can score the ball at a high level. Tennessee’s defense is not strong right now and the Cardinals should be able to throw the ball all over the field.
The Titans are going to have to rely on the arm of Ryan Tannehill a lot more than they’d like to in this one. Arizona should slow the ball down and the Titans like to grind out the game so this one should hit under 52.5 points.
- Cardinals +2.5
- Bet the Under
