Welcome everyone to the home stretch! It’s the final week of the NBA regular season and although most teams’ fate is decided, there are still some important matchups coming up, and with a massive 13-game slate this evening, we’re looking to finish the regular season strong.
Corey Kispert over 16.5 points scored (-120)
We kick off with the freshly eliminated Washington Wizards (34-44) who host the Milwaukee Bucks (56-22), as the Bucks look to cement their place at the top of the Eastern Conference. With a number of players missing for the Wizards (Porzingis, Beal & Kuzma) it is no surprise that the Bucks start off as -12 favorites, even on the road. With a blowout very possible, we’re looking to mitigate some risk and roll with a likely higher scorer for the home team. Corey Kispert gets the nod as he’s averaged 17.5 points scored over his last 10 games, as well as scoring 19+ in 4 of his last 5, and 26+ in 3 of those 4. With the number of absentees for Washington, he’ll still likely see plenty of minutes if they’re losing by a lot. It’s worth also noting that the Bucks’ defense ranks 27th in their last 3 games for points scored against (126.7), so Kispert could see a flurry of late-game points if the Bucks end up limiting some minutes if they’re up by a lot.
Rudy Gobert over 12.5 rebounds (-130)
Next up we’re in New York as the Brooklyn Nets (43-35) welcome the Minnesota Timberwolves (39-40) in a matchup that has a lot on the line for both teams. The Nets are looking to hold on to the last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, whilst the Timberwolves are attempting a last-minute raid on the final spots in the Western Conference, although that may not be likely as they’ve lost their last 3 in a row. Although they’ve been out of form, Rudy Gobert has still been a consistent performer for the Timberwolves. Over his last 10 games, he’s averaged 13.1 rebounds per game, and he’s had 15+ rebounds in 4 of his last 5. He comes up against a Nets team that ranks 26th in total rebounds against (57.7) per game, and in their last game just 3 weeks ago he ended the matchup with 13. With a lot on the line for both teams and the line a dead heat, expect Gobert to see maximum minutes as the game stays competitive.
Spencer Dinwiddie over 9.5 assists (+112)
We’re sticking with the Nets game and running it back with a successful pick from last week. Spencer Dinwiddie has been extremely productive for Brooklyn since his arrival, especially when they’re at home. In his last 10 games, he’s averaged 10.1 assists per game and he’s had 11+ in his last 6 home games straight. In the aforementioned game between the 2 sides a few weeks back, Dinwiddie also finished with 11 assists. As we said the game should stay particularly close so expect him to elevate the Brooklyn offense, and with them still shooting 51.2% over their last 3 and Dinwiddie providing 15.5 potential assists per game in his last 10, he should be busy tonight.
Alperen Sengun over 8.5 rebounds (-132)
Now to Houston as the Denver Nuggets (52-26) look to cement their spot at the top of the Western Conference as they travel to the bottom side in that very conference. The Rockets (19-60) have been extremely poor this season, but star man Sengun has been a bright spot throughout. Again, a blowout is possible as the Nuggets start as -10.5 favorites, but that hasn’t hampered Sengun’s minutes played. Over his last 10 games he’s averaged 9.3 rebounds and actually hit 12+ in his last 3 straight. The Nuggets over that same period are last in the league in rebounds allowed per game (59.3) so we anticipate as the Rockets look to spoil their party, Sengun could be extremely active, especially as well as Denver are also dead last in shooting percentage in their last 3 (41.5%).
Shaedon Sharpe over 23.5 points scored (-102)
Lastly, we have the highest spread differential of the evening as the Portland Trailblazers (33-45) head to Tennessee to face the Memphis Grizzlies (49-29), who start the night as a remarkable -18 point favorite. With the continued absence of the likes of Damian Lillard, Jerami Grant, Anfernee Simons, and Co, the rookie Shaedon Sharpe has been taking his extended run in the team by the scruff of the neck. He’s scored 24+ points in 6 of his last 7 games, and even when the Blazers have been down by 20-30 points, they’re leaving Sharpe in the game and he’s seeing anywhere from 35-45 minutes in all of them. With the spread so large tonight, I expect a similar outcome, and with the Grizzlies’ defense ranking 22nd in the league for points scored against (122) per game, Sharpe could look to take advantage late in the game so long as they continue to keep him involved.
